Tinker Cliffs via Andy Layne Trail is a difficult but rewarding hike near Roanoke, Va. The Andy Layne Trail is a private spur trail, therefore no camping is allowed until you reach the Appalachian trail near the top of the overlook.

Once you reach the top of Tinker Cliffs, it will be hard to find an overlook that isn't incredible.
Starting at the Andy Layne Trailhead, the hike to Tinker Cliffs is a moderate to difficult hike with an elevation of 1,945 feet. Once you hit the Appalachian Trail you're home free with the cliffs being less than a mile after that.
